1. The background of the Church/Mission organization
o Founded by the Gereformeerde Kerk and the Nederduits Gereformeerde Kerk in Afrika.
o It was formed in the 19 Sixties. In D'Kar, Xanagas and Gantsi.
o God gave the Gereformeerde Kerk in Aranos, Namibia a farm – D'Kar north of Gantsi. The NGKA started with mission work at Xanagas. Elders from Xanagas asked the Mission to help them to get their own farm, after 5 years of drilling – New Xanagas was allocated by the Land Board in 1983. These 2 totally different churches joined in 1994 and formed the Reformed Church in Botswana.
o Why, for what purpose? Go…. teach ..…live… I AM with you. Matt. 28 : 19
2. Target people/area. Bushmen in Western Botswana – off-course the church is open to all people, members of the DRCB attend the church in Gantsi - but we focus on the Bushmen.
o What has been the impact of the Mission - Economically? Kuru Development Trust – with all its projects, Bokamoso Preschools, The Cochineal Project. D'Kar and New Xanagas – the farms - were formed by the church. New Xanagas is a farm of 20 x 38 km – the challenge is to really develop it to the original vision. We wait on God for abundance to start a project in Bots and Nam - using encroaching bush – to change poverty into Life.
o Socially and spiritually? Hagai 2 : 3 Does it not seem to you like nothing? Be strong… and work… I AM with you. Clutch in with Him - He will provide – Guide – give wisdom.
o What is the plan for youth in the Missions? Gantsi youth is reaching out to New Xanagas on Saturday 14 May. New Xanagas plan to reach out to Chobokwane. Xanagas church is situated ON the boarding school grounds with mainly Bushmen children. God guided the Mission Commission very wisely to start the work here. This morning – 8 May - there were again 200 plus children in the church. Every Sunday and Wednesday there is a youth service. God recently replaced the previous BM with a man of God.
3. How will the Mission be involved with evangelism & discipleship of the least reached people groups in Botswana?
We are using media like DAVAR and Audio Bibles and the Jesus film to reach cattle posts, etc.
4. What is the biggest challenge to this Mission in Botswana?
Financial support and training of leaders. To have a Kingdom Vision - to know God's Presence.
5. What do you think will be the biggest challenge for the next generation? For now and for ever - the biggest challenge for anybody is to know that it's God's will that we must be –illumed - full of Light to be better aware of His Presence within and around us. To have Vision. To see Christ in every body.
6. How has the mission changed in the last decade?
o Those going into the mission field Mainly short term actions.
o The level of commitment Good.
o How are they supported. Only God knows. We will meet the right people at the right time. We can do it – if we are joining our hands. First seek the Kingdom of God and know – We are living in Him and moving in Him and He is in us and the children. Acts 17:28
